Amber Morse
Talking to people is Amber's joy; she has met
many people throughout King County with Fill
the Boot.
Seattle, Renton, and Federal Way are just a
few of the cities where she has greeted people
every
summer as they fill the firefighter's
boots to fight
Muscular Dystrophy.
When asked how long that she had been involved
with Fill the Boot, Amber contemplated,
"Well, let me think. How old was I?"
She flipped through memories. Then she realized,
"Six years."
I was curious why Amber spent so much time with
Fill the Boot.
Smiling, she replied,
"I like the firefighters.
It is fun to help.
And I want to see
how many people
will help."
Conversation comes natural to Amber.
At home, she is surrounded by family, a friend,
and a goldfish named Piggie. Plus there is Rusty,
the elderly German shepherd retriever. Amber is
active in her community church. She creates
PowerPoint presentations of the sermon on her
computer. So everyone can view the sermon.
She mentioned that she continues to be involved
with Muscular Dystrophy Association events
because
you get to know people. You become friends.
She also participates in MDA Lockup and
Shamrock events. With shamrock events, she talks
to people at the stores,
calls to see if they need
more shamrocks, and delivers them.
The donations to MDA events have provided
Amber with medical services for her disease,
Friedreich's Ataxia which affects the peripheral
nerves. Through MDA, she goes to the
University of Washington to obtain help from her
doctors.
On a new note, see you this summer
for Fill the Boot 2008! We can sport sunglasses.
Catch the ray.
