Seattle Storm, yahoo! You raised the Fill the Boot event 9.47% higher than last year to make a difference for your families, neighbors, and friends with muscular dystrophy in Seattle. Seattle Storm won the game vs Atlanta Dream. Seattle Storm continues to the semifinals!

Volunteers, firefighters, Muscular Dystrophy Association, and everyone that filled the boot, we deeply appreciate you. You made the difference this summer. Your efforts garnered $55, 833 for families fighting muscular dystrophy in our Seattle neighborhoods.

• $25 provides an annual flu shot for one person
• $100 funds a support group session
• $200 covers a clinical diagnostic exam
• $800 sends a child to MDA summer camp for a week
• $2,000 goes toward purchase of a wheelchair, a set of leg braces or a communication device

MDA supported, Lin Mei and colleagues published this year online in Nature Neuroscience: "Scientists have found that "Backwards"(retrograde) signals coming from muscle fibers to nerve fibers influence nerve fibers profoundly in location and function."
