Rashard
Brown
If something needs to be done, Rashard Brown does
it. It is the grit that awakens communities. Last
summer, you could see him at South Center assisting
with Fill the Boot. He was also with the firefighters
again last month at the Fremont Ballroom for a
MDA Fremont Ballard Lockup event.
Weekly, Rashard spends his afternoons entering web page information into a computer for MDA
lockup events. He's a self taught computer techie. He utilizes a mouse with an on-screen
keyboard to enter the information into the computer.
However, his highlight came as an MDA 2007 Goodwill
Ambassador when he gave a speech about his life
with Duchenne's disease at Meany Middle School.

Sharing his experience,
he brings a newer perception of neuromuscular
diseases for young people. Previously, he had been
a Junior MDA Goodwill Ambassador which introduced
him to many Muscular
Dystrophy
Association events.
He's had fun at the MDA holiday party. Then there's
camp. You can talk to girls. You can make
a big splash in the pool. Swimming! There are camp
dances where there's some rap.
Rashard likes the dancing.
For basics, Rashard mentioned that MDA helped him
with clinic visits, and fixing his wheelchair.
To further develop himself, he is a student at Sartori Transition Program.
Sartori emphasizes building skills for the world
of work through individuality while fostering lifelong
learning.
2Pac's "Me Against the World" pivots
"Study your lessons
Don't settle for less - even the genius ask-es questions".
Kicking back at home, Rashard plays a few video games. Then follows up with watching his game, basketball.
The Miami Heat are it. He's even been to a few games.
When asked if he has a favorite player, he said, "Shaq". Rashard's turtle, Roy, agrees.
